When I started my career in finance, I was a firm believer that the best way to manage money was to keep it simple and do it yourself. In fact, I often told friends and family: “Don’t let anyone touch your money, because of the fees!” This mindset came from my first role working at a hedge fund/private equity firm, where I saw firsthand how high management and performance fees ate away at investors' returns—often leaving them with lackluster results.

Fast forward to 2021 I was working long hours due to COVID, and was getting burned out underwriting multimillion-dollar real estate deals, and realized that I wasn’t feeling fulfilled. I took a career break and moved to China for 3 years with my wife to spend some time with her family. This gave me the opportunity to reset and refocus on what truly mattered to me. It was during this time that I discovered the emerging movement of flat, fee-only financial advisory services—a model that focused on transparency, reducing conflicts of interest, and putting clients first. This fee structure also seemed fairer as it didn’t grow with the size of the portfolio. It was also a fee model that anyone could understand.

This revelation led me to reflect on my past advice to friends and family. I realized that many people, especially if they don’t have a background in finance, need expert guidance and support with their financial future. That insight is what ultimately inspired me to found Eagle Valley Wealth Management. My mission is to offer straightforward, impartial financial guidance for a transparent and easy-to-understand flat fee. I assist individuals in navigating their financial journey and achieving their goals, regardless of their assets or experience level.

When I am not working, you will most likely find me spending time with my wife, playing online computer games with friends, or trying out new local restaurants.
